Bush Balm Demonstrations

Our bush medicine demonstrations are a way of sharing our story and culture.

With permission and support from our governing directors and Aboriginal people from the communities we work with we offer bush medicine making demonstrations designed to share traditional Aboriginal knowledge of how to make healing balms from native plants from the Central Australian Region and teach you about their applications for a variety of ailments. Through these workshops our goal is to preserve traditional knowledge and practices and provide opportunities for cross cultural learning.

We can provide workshops for:

  • Conferences
  • Functions and Special Events
  • Corporate Groups
  • School Groups
  • Tourist Groups
  • Families

The demonstration includes:

  • The story of Purple House, an award-winning Indigenous health organisation which has been getting dialysis patients home on Country for two decades.
  • The story of the Bush Balm social enterprise.
  • Uses for wild harvested bush medicine plants.
  • Bush Balm product making demonstration.
  • Opportunity to test our complete range of products and check out the Bush Balm shop, which also includes textiles with artwork by our patients and a selection of locally produced items from other Indigenous businesses.

Cost: $20 per person (minimum 5 people), $250 for groups of 13-20, $35 per person for off-site local bookings (minimum 10 people), $300 for groups of 10 or more for off-site local bookings. Please talk to us if you’re interested in remote or interstate bookings.

Day/time: we run demonstrations by booking only, Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm. These are also the hours of our retail shop.

They run for approximately 30 mins and are suitable for all ages.
